O Cosmedics Oxygenating Enzyme Peel
Understanding Enzyme Peel
Often referred to as the no downtime facial and the perfect wake me up facial, O Cosmedics Enzyme Peel is a professional treatment designed to support skin renewal, improve surface texture and enhance overall skin clarity without the recovery period associated with more intensive resurfacing treatments.
The treatment uses fruit derived enzymes from ingredients such as papaya, pumpkin and pomegranate, which contain naturally occurring proteins that help loosen and break down the bonds between dull, built up surface cells. This allows them to be gently removed while supporting a smoother, brighter and more refined complexion.
Enzyme Peel is an ideal option for clients wanting an effective professional facial that refreshes and resurfaces the skin without the downtime.
To complete your Enzyme Peel treatment, we finish with LED Light Therapy to help calm the skin, and support the skinβs recovery process.
What can Enzyme Peel improve?
Enzyme Peel is the perfect wake me up facial for skin that feels dull, tired or in need of a refresh. Designed to gently renew and refine the complexion, it helps leave the skin looking brighter, smoother and visibly revitalised.
It helps improve:
-
Uneven Skin Texture
Gentle enzymatic exfoliation helps smooth rough or uneven surface texture, leaving the skin feeling softer and more refined.
-
Congestion & Surface Build-Up
By loosening accumulated dead skin cells and surface debris, Enzyme Peel can help improve mild congestion and support a clearer looking complexion.
-
Dehydrated-Looking Skin
The treatment helps refresh and revive the appearance of skin that looks tired, dry or lacking in luminosity.
-
Uneven Skin Tone
Regular exfoliation can help improve the appearance of uneven tone and support a brighter, more balanced complexion.
-
Overall Skin Maintenance
Enzyme Peel is an excellent maintenance treatment for keeping the skin smooth, refreshed and well maintained between more intensive treatments.
Safety considerations
Enzyme Peel may need to be postponed if you have:
-
Active cold sores
Treatment should be delayed until the area has fully healed.
-
Open wounds or broken skin
The skin should be intact before treatment is performed.
-
Active skin infections
Any bacterial, viral or fungal infection should be fully resolved before treatment.
-
Sunburn or significant skin irritation
Treatment should be postponed until the skin has completely settled.
-
An active flare of eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis
The affected area should be calm and stable before proceeding with treatment.
Please let your therapist know about any current medications, skin conditions or recent treatments prior to your appointment.
What Will the Treatment Feel Like?
During Enzyme Peel treatment, you may experience a mild tingling, warming or gentle prickling sensation as the enzymes become active on the skin.
These sensations are generally only felt while the treatment is being performed and settle once the enzyme treatment is complete. A cooling fan is provided throughout the treatment to help soothe any warmth, and your therapist will remain attentive to your comfort at all times to ensure the experience feels as calm and comfortable as possible.
Considerations
As there is no expected peeling or downtime, the skin can return to normal immediately after treatment. Following your therapistβs aftercare recommendations and wearing daily SPF will help protect the skin and support the results of your treatment.
Your Skinβs Recovery Process
Enzyme Peel requires little to no recovery time. Any mild warmth, tingling or temporary redness experienced during treatment should settle shortly after the enzyme is removed.
As there is no expected peeling or significant downtime, the skin can generally return to its normal routine immediately following treatment. The complexion may appear smoother, brighter and more refreshed, with continued improvement in overall skin texture and clarity following the treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of Enzyme Peel treatments recommended will depend on your individual skin concerns, goals and how your skin responds. The treatment can be performed approximately every 2β4 weeks, depending on your individual skin concerns, goals and treatment plan.
Enzyme Peel can be performed regularly as part of an ongoing skin maintenance plan, or alternated with other treatments in your skin program to help support the complexion between more intensive sessions.
For clients working towards a specific skin goal, your therapist will recommend a suitable treatment frequency based on your skinβs progress. Once your desired results have been achieved, Enzyme Peel can continue as a maintenance facial to help keep the skin smooth, refreshed, balanced and well maintained.
Treatment Preparation & Aftercare
Preparing the skin correctly before your treatment helps minimise sensitivity and ensures the skin is in the best possible condition for a safe and effective treatment.
To prepare for your Enzyme treatment
- Avoid retinol, Vitamin A derivatives and other active skincare ingredients for 7 days prior to treatment.
- Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds and fake tan for 2 weeks prior to treatment, particularly if the skin has become sunburnt, sensitised or irritated.
- Avoid picking or irritating the skin in the days leading up to your appointment.
- Please reschedule your appointment if you have an active cold sore, open wounds, broken skin or an active skin infection within the treatment area.
- Please advise us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding prior to your appointment, so we can ensure the treatment is suitable for you.
- Please arrive with no makeup or fake tan applied to the treatment area, allowing the skin to be properly assessed and prepared before treatment.
Following your Enzyme treatment, the skin may feel smoother, refreshed and hydrated, with little to no downtime expected.
After your treatment
- Keep the skin well hydrated with a gentle, nourishing moisturiser.
- Apply SPF 30β50 daily and minimise prolonged sun exposure.
- Avoid retinol, Vitamin A derivatives and strong active skincare ingredients for 2β3 days following treatment.
- Avoid exfoliating products, scrubs or picking at the skin for a few days.
- Avoid excessive heat, saunas, steam rooms and intense exercise for the remainder of the day if the skin feels warm or sensitive.
- Continue with a gentle skincare routine and avoid introducing new or highly active products immediately after treatment.
As Enzyme Peel is a gentle, no downtime treatment, most clients can return to their usual daily activities immediately. Your therapist will provide any additional aftercare recommendations based on your skin and treatment plan.
