Alma Harmony Dye-VL IPL

Understanding Dye-VL IPL

Dye-VL IPL by Alma Harmony XL PRO is an advanced light based treatment designed to target facial redness, broken capillaries, visible blood vessels and pigmentation with precision.

Using Alma’s specialised narrow band AFT technology, Dye-VL delivers controlled pulses of light that are absorbed by haemoglobin within broken capillaries and visible vessels, as well as melanin within areas of pigmentation. This helps reduce the appearance of unwanted redness and discolouration while leaving the surrounding skin largely unaffected.

The treatment also incorporates cooling for added comfort, making it a highly targeted option for clients wanting to address both vascular concerns and pigmentation.

What can Dye-VL IPL improve?

Dye-VL IPL is designed for clients who are concerned with persistent redness, broken capillaries, visible blood vessels and uneven pigmentation.

By directing targeted light energy into the skin, Dye-VL can help reduce the appearance of broken capillaries around the nose and cheeks, diffuse facial redness and visible vascular lesions, helping the complexion appear clearer and more even.

Dye-VL IPL can help improve:

  • Broken capillaries
  • Visible blood vessels
  • Facial redness
  • Redness around the nose and cheeks
  • Rosacea
  • Sun spots
  • Pigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Overall skin clarity
  • A dull or uneven complexion
What Will the Treatment Feel Like?

During a Dye-VL IPL treatment, you may feel brief warm flashes or a light snapping sensation as each pulse of light is delivered to the skin.

The handpiece incorporates cooling technology to help keep the skin comfortable throughout the treatment. Some areas, particularly where redness, broken capillaries or pigmentation are more concentrated, may feel slightly more sensitive.

Once the treatment is complete, the skin may feel warm and appear mildly red, however this usually begins to settle shortly afterwards.

Safety Considerations

Temporary redness and sensitivity may occur as part of the skin’s normal response. Following the recommended aftercare is essential to support recovery and minimise the risk of irritation, infection or other complications.

Your Skin’s Recovery Process

Following Dye-VL IPL, the skin may appear slightly red, warm or flushed, particularly in areas where broken capillaries or pigmentation have been targeted.

Most clients experience minimal downtime, although mild redness or sensitivity can remain for a short period after treatment.

Over the following days and weeks, the targeted concerns gradually become less visible, helping the skin appear clearer, more even and more refined.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of treatments recommended will depend on your individual skin concerns, goals and overall skin condition. A course of treatments is often recommended, with sessions typically spaced around 4 weeks apart.

Once your desired skin goals have been achieved, maintenance treatments every 3–6 months may be recommended to help support collagen renewal and maintain your results over time.

Treatment Preparation & Aftercare

Preparing the skin correctly before treatment helps reduce sensitivity, minimise the risk of irritation and ensure the skin is in the best possible condition for a safe and effective treatment.

To ensure the skin is in the best condition for treatment:

  • Avoid retinol, Vitamin A derivatives and other active skincare ingredients for 7 days prior to treatment.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds and fake tan for 2 weeks prior to treatment to ensure the skin is not sensitised or compromised before your appointment.
  • Avoid threading for 5–7 days prior, and waxing or laser hair removal for 1–2 weeks prior to treatment to minimise sensitivity and allow the skin time to settle.
  • Please reschedule your appointment if you have an active cold sore, open wounds, broken skin or an active skin infection in the treatment area.
  • Please advise us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding prior to booking, as treatment suitability will need to be assessed before proceeding.
  • Please arrive with no makeup or fake tan applied to the treatment area, allowing the skin to be properly assessed and prepared before treatment.

Post Treatment Care

We provide you with an aftercare product to nourish, protect and support your skin for up to one week following your treatment.

We strongly advise following the recommended aftercare protocol, as the skin is more vulnerable following treatment and requires extra care to minimise the risk of irritation and infection.

  • Avoid sun exposure, swimming, exercise and makeup for 48 hours.
  • Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms and excessive heat for 48 hours.
  • Keep the treated area clean and avoid unnecessary touching for 48 hours.
  • Wash the treated area with cold water 2 hours after your treatment, followed by the provided aftercare. Continue using the aftercare for the next 6 days, up to 3 times daily as needed.
  • Avoid retinol, vitamin A, exfoliants and other active skincare for 48 hours.
  • Apply SPF daily and protect the skin from direct sun exposure.
  • Use a fresh pillowcase following your treatment.
